Dear New Hope-Solebury School District and Community,
It is with excitement, honor, and pride I inform you that we received
notification this week that U.S. News & World Report's 2012 ranking of Best High
Schools ranked New Hope-Solebury High School as #7 in Pennsylvania and #441 in
the nation. Our ranking in Pennsylvania is #7 out of 752 high schools and our
ranking in the nation is #441 out of 21,776 high schools.
While this is a shining credit to our outstanding high school, it is also a
credit to our entire K-12 educational program working in the community context
of genuine commitment shared by students, staff members, School Board, parents,
guardians, and community members. In these challenging times, this is certainly
a worthy opportunity for all stakeholders to pause and proudly share in the
celebration of this remarkable achievement.

Notice
The New Hope-Solebury Board of School
Directors adopted the proposed final budget for 2012/2013 at their May 7, 2012
meeting. This budget is posted on our website at
www.nhsd.org. Public comment on the
budget will be heard at their next regularly scheduled meeting on May 21, 2012.
The final budget will be approved at their meeting on June 4, 2012 at 6:30 PM in
the district office conference room.

Current 2011-2012 School Calendar
Our
emergency days off,
due to
flooding at the beginning of the school year,
are a distant thought as we enjoy a beautiful spring. The Pennsylvania School
Code stipulates that students attend school for a minimum of 180 school days.
As we proactively build extra school days in our school calendar, and thanks to
the mild winter, our students will have enough school days completed in the
current school year calendar to meet state requirements. Therefore, on April
16, 2012, the School Board approved the Administration’s
recommendation to complete our current school year calendar, as is, for the
remainder of the school year without adding additional school days. We are very
pleased that this will confirm our high school graduation date of June 13.

On
April 16, 2012 the School Board also approved the 2012-2013 School Calendar that
I am pleased to present in this communication. Please review the letter that
accompanies the calendar to learn more about the new items in the new calendar.
