K-12 Technology Scope & Sequence
| The NHSD technology
curriculum helps students develop and apply technology skills to enhance
learning across core subject areas. The Technology Scope &
Sequence is aligned to the ISTE-NETS-S technology standards. This
curriculum overview has been prepared by the NHSD library media
specialists to inform you of some of the abilities and skills we will help
your child develop throughout their school years.

BasicsA competent student will identify and care for basic computer
components including the keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, and
printer.

Mouse Operations - A competent student will effectively use the mouse to select, drag, double-click, open menus and perform operations using various mouse controls.
Computer Basics - A competent student will identify and care for basic computer components including the keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, and printer.
Keyboarding - A competent student uses correct finger positioning and is able to type 30 minutes per minute with 97% accuracy.
Graphics - A competent student will be able to create and edit digital images using various software, scanners and digital cameras.
Visual Mapping - A competent student will be able to use software to create idea webs, formats and outlines.
Word Processing - A competent student will be able to design, develop, format and edit documents with a word processor.
Database Use - A competent student will be able to use successful strategies for locating and accessing information from a database.
Computer Navigation - A competent student will be able navigate and access both local and network drives, tools, and menus efficiently and effectively.
Spreadsheets - A competent student will be able to create spreadsheets using formulas to present collected data in various forms such as graphs and charts.
Web Browsing - A competent student will be able to navigate the Internet in order to locate sources and will be able to determine the accuracy, relevance, currency, and comprehensiveness of information.
Computer Ethics/Citizenship - A competent student will use computer equipment and information technology in accordance with New Hope-Solebury School District's Acceptable Use Policy. The student will understand intellectual property rights and will cite sources using developmentally appropriate formats.
Presentation Software - A competent student will create developmentally appropriate multimedia products with appropriate audio and video enhancements.
Desktop Publishing - A competent student will use appropriate software to design, develop, and publish communication products.
