I am often asked why I wanted to become a superintendent. My answer is simple: being able to have an impact on an entire district is important to me. Further, I believe I have the leadership skills and experiences to help our students and district realize success. My instructional background includes teaching 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades at the elementary level and 8th grade English at the middle level. As an administrator, I have served as a Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtII) Coordinator, where I worked with an entire district on implementing best instructional practices to ensure high student achievement and growth. Further, I have served as an elementary principal as well as a K-12 director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Since coming to NHSSD in 2013 when I served as the assistant to the superintendent—and later as assistant superintendent—I have been continually impressed with our students’ desire to learn and to grow. The faculty and staff have shown, time and again, their dedication to our student and community. Our parents and community have also shown great support as we move forward with initiatives specifically aimed at ensuring the best education possible for our students.
Over the last year we have committed ourselves to engaging, enriching, and empowering all students through a world-class education. The “3 Es” as we have called them provide a lens through which all initiatives and programs run. It is critically important that we help our students become successful in school and that we set them up for success once they leave our K-12 walls.
