Principal’s Update

January 30, 2012

Congratulations to Dan Locke, Grace Wu, and Brielle MacNichol for their excellent presentation at the 2012 Future City Competition in Philadelphia this Saturday.   Also contributing to the model's construction were Gabby Lehotay, Kira Botehlo and Ava Kling.

At the event , 42 middle school  teams had 7 minutes each to present their models,  followed by 10 minutes of  questions and comments from a panel of engineers.  Also taken into consideration were team essays and Sim City virtual city scores.  NHSM was announced as one of six finalists at this competition and were honored to present once again on stage to a second panel of engineers in front of the large audience at this competition.

As selected finalists, the NHSM team was awarded "Honorable Mention" and two monetary awards.   Many thanks to these students for their hard work, effort, and high achievement!

Reminders:

  1.     Key Fobs - students are to carry their Key Fobs with them at all times in school.  A lost Key Fob must be reported to the Office.  This is a safety concern as someone who has a Key Fob gains access to the MS and HS during the school day.  If you need to purchase one, please see Mrs. Walter in the Main Office.

  2.     Agenda Books - students are required to have their agenda books during the school day.  They are used as hallway passes as well as keeping assignments.

  3.     Dropping off Materials during school day - we will not be interrupting classes to deliver materials that are dropped off during the school day.  If a child knows that he/she is expecting a parent to bring in an item, they will need to check the office in between classes or during lunch.  Otherwise, the item will be delivered during non-instructional time.

  4.     Advisory Theme - February - Feel the Love (Relationships) - Family, friends, community, civility -  reaching out to others!
