Reading Olympics is an extracurricular activity that combines the love of good literature with healthy competition. Students work in teams to complete a list of 45 books that range in levels of difficulty to accommodate all middle school readers. A culminating event takes place in mid-April where the teams compete with other middle school teams by answering questions related to the books they have read. Participants begin meeting in October to form teams and select the books that they will read. They continue meeting throughout the year up to the actual event to prepare for the competition. All participants are required to read at least six of the books from the list. All are welcome. Interested students should contact Mrs. Derby in room 921 or via email at hderby@nhsd.org.
