    English Language Development

New Hope Solebury English Language Development (ELD) Program provides services to students whose native language is not English. The program is designed to help students develop English language proficiency in order to meet district and PA Academic Standards, to access the mainstream curriculum, and to provide educational opportunities to become responsible citizens.

ELD instruction is part of a comprehensive program which takes into account a student’s social, educational, and personal backgrounds as well as their existing skills and knowledge bases. Instruction of the EL student is determined by their level of English language proficiency. Students develop competencies in the four language domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

    ELD Program Goals:

The goal of New Hope-Solebury School District’s English Language Development (ELD)Program is to develop English language proficiency in English Learners (ELs). To provide ELs the skills and strategies needed to be successful in the mainstream classroom which will help them attain both academic and social success in an English speaking society.
