School Announcements
Calendar Reminder: A reminder that the school will operate with an early dismissal time of 12pm on Monday, November 20 and Tuesday, November 21.
Schools will be closed on Wednesday, November 22 through to Friday, November 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
HSA Events :Valid clearances are required to volunteer during school hours and a number of daytime volunteer opportunities still remain this school year, including December's Holiday Shop. Clearances are valid for five years and will be checked prior to every event to ensure student safety. Information on obtaining and submitting clearances is available here.
SA Family Directory: The Home and School Association would like to create the opportunity for interested families to share contact information with other NHSD families through an online directory. To participate, the form to register is available here. Please be aware that your participation is completely voluntary and that the school district will not be managing the data collection and distribution for the directory.
Mental Health Webinar: In partnership with the Cook Center for Human Connection, our district will offer our next webinar, Social Media: Protecting Your Child by Staying Aware and Involved, on Wednesday, November 29 at 7:00pm. The webinar will heighten device awareness and offer practical solutions for parents to effectively manage device use.
Adopt a Wishlist: Our HS Key Club encourages you to Adopt a Wishlist and help provide holiday gifts for more than 200 local families in need. Explore how you can help before December 13-14 here.
Reminders
Absences/Tardy: Please send an email to UESattendance@nhsd.org,or a note in to the office if you will be late, leaving early or absent.
Notes from the Nurse: If your student has a new injury that requires a cast, boot, sling, wrap, crutches, or has a concussion, we do need a note from their physician to return to school.This note should include restrictions for PE, recess and any other school activity and include duration of restrictions.

SAFETY AND HEALTH REMINDER
Whenever your child is experiencing symptoms of a communicable illness, please remember that students must be free of fever (without fever reducing medication), vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school. Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe and healthy.
Happenings
Mask and Zany Presents She Kills Monsters: Mask & Zany, our high school theater club, cordially invites you to see our fall play, She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen, this Thursday, November 16 – Saturday, November 18 at 7:30 pm. The play is a comedy/drama following protagonist Agnes Evans as she processes grief from the loss of her family while playing Dungeons and Dragons. Please be aware this show is rated PG-13. Reserve tickets in advance by contacting mpittner@nshd.org.
Battle of the Bridges Holiday Shopping Fundraiser: Support our Lions Football Booster Club by shopping at Foxy Reds and Vignette December 1-3. Mention your Lions Football affiliation and 10% of your purchase will be donated to the team. Gift wrapping included!
Girls Basketball Clinic: Girls in Grades 1-8 are invited to join an afternoon of basketball with the Lions Girls Basketball team and Coach Steve Polinsky on Monday, November 20 from 12:30-3:00pm in the HS Gym. Players will have the opportunity to develop basketball skills while having fun. LES students will be bussed to the UES after school. All LES & UES students will be escorted to the High School gym from the UES.
Parent/Guardian Coaching for Bullying Prevention: Our district is offering a free resource via the Cook Center for Human Connection for families seeking guidance when handling these difficult situations. Parent Coaching is a free resource that connects parents/guardians with a coach, who can provide suggestions on how to help your child.
