Dear Upper Elementary School Families,
I hope this letter finds you well and in high spirits as we gear up for another exciting school year at the Upper Elementary School. As we approach the 2023-24 academic year, I wanted to extend a warm welcome to both our returning families and those who are joining us for the first time. Your partnership with us is invaluable, and we are thrilled to embark on this journey together.
First and foremost, I am pleased to announce that our school building has undergone some wonderful changes over the summer. We have installed brand-new floors throughout the facility, creating a fresh and inviting environment for our students to thrive in. We have also upgraded some of our security measures and technology. These upgrades not only enhance the aesthetics of our school, but also ensure a safe and comfortable space for learning and growth.
In our commitment to providing a well-rounded education, we are excited to reintroduce a unique addition to our school family - chickens! Our feathered friends are now fully grown and will offer students a hands-on opportunity to learn about responsibility, animal care, and the fascinating world of agriculture. This initiative aligns perfectly with our values of fostering curiosity and practical learning experiences.
Furthermore, I am delighted to share that we have adopted a new reading program designed by the American Reading Company to implement a cutting-edge literacy experience for our students. This program is designed to ignite a passion for reading by engaging students with a diverse range of materials, fostering comprehension skills, and encouraging a lifelong love for learning through literature.
At the Upper Elementary School, we understand the significance of instilling a growth mindset in our students. Our dedication to this philosophy remains unwavering. Throughout the upcoming school year, we will continue to integrate growth mindset principles into our curriculum and school culture. By embracing challenges, persisting through obstacles, and celebrating efforts, we aim to empower our students to reach their full potential and become resilient learners.
To enhance the learning environment even further, we have introduced flexible seating options in our main lobby and fifth-grade wing. This innovative approach encourages students to take ownership of their learning experiences and collaborate with peers in a comfortable and adaptable setting. We believe that these changes will foster creativity, communication, and a sense of ownership in our students' educational journey.
