The World Languages Department offers a course of study for both French and Spanish beginning in 6th grade as an introductory class for each language. Students continue with French or Spanish in 7th and 8th grade as they complete level 1 of the chosen language. In high school, we offer levels 1-4 in both languages and AP French as will as Spanish 5. AP Spanish is scheduled to be offered in the 2022-2023 academic year.
The World Languages program’s goal is to prepare the students to communicate effectively in the target language through interpretive, presentational and interpersonal modes. The program also strives to offer the students opportunities to develop cultural competence and understanding and to connect language learning with other disciplines. Students are encouraged to make comparisons between their language and culture to the language they are studying.
