• There are plenty of ways to become involved with the PTG.  For starters, why not join us at our monthly meeting? Meetings run for roughly one hour and are held in the Middle school starting at 10:00am. Click on the PTG Meetings link to see the schedule. If you can’t be at a meeting in person, at least stay up to date on the PTG news by reading our monthly meeting minutes by clicking on the PTG Meeting Minutes link. Meeting reminders and news of other other Middle School happenings are sent via listserv each month. If you’re not already signed up for listserv, now is the perfect time to do so.  The link is www.nhsd.org/listserv/index.html

Being involved in the PTG doesn’t take a lot of time and every little bit that you can do as a parent helps your child and the middle school.  Check out the PTG table at Back to School Night. There will be volunteer sign up sheets for each event/activity throughout the year.  Our goal is for each family at the middle school to pledge to volunteer at least once during the school year! As always, feel free to contact any officer and we’ll be happy to answer your questions and help you find a way to become involved. Click on PTG Officers link for names and contact information.

If you’re still wondering WHY you should be involved with the PTG, consider the research.  Students whose adult family members are involved in school achieve more, are better behaved, are more resilient and better adjusted.  The more that parents know their child’s teachers and school administrators, the better communications are all year, and the more likely that children will tell their parents what’s going on in school. And isn’t that what we all want?
