    2020-21 MEAL PICK-UP PROCEDURES

Welcome to the New School Year! The New Hope Solebury School District Food Service Department will be serving FREE breakfast and lunch to all students effective immediately. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has granted the New Hope-Solebury School District this exception with benefits through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year!  All children ages 0-18 are able to receive meals (enrolled students over the age of 18 with special needs are also eligible) We have modified our meal service methods in order to fit the needs of our students learning virtually.

Meal distribution will be at the High School Theater entrance each Monday (2-days worth of meals will be handed out) and Wednesday (3-days worth of meals will be handed out) between the hours of 8 am and 11 am.  Should a school holiday fall on a distribution day, we will adjust accordingly.  For example, weeks with a holiday or non-school day that fall on a Monday will have meal distribution on Tuesday and Thursday.

Students do NOT have to be present at the time of pick-up.

Please click here for proper storing and cooking instructions on items being currently being picked up though our meal distribution service.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kim Keller, Food Service Director, kkeller@nhsd.org

The Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 requires all School Food Authorities (SFAs) to inform families about the availability and location of free meals for students over the summer months through the Summer Food Service Program. This is required even if the SFA is not participating in the Summer Meals Program.

The LEA may fulfill the requirement of notifying the community of locations of summer meal sites, through one of the methods listed below. This may be accomplished through phone calls, flyers or other methods such as, posting on the SFAs website.

Schools or families can use any of the following methods to locate sites that serve free meals to children during the summer:

    ·  Call 211
    ·  Call 1.866.3Hungry or 1.877.8Hambre
    ·  Text  “MEALPA” to 877877 during the summer months
    ·  Visit the website: www.fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks (note, this replaces the whyhunger.org website)
    ·  Use the site locator for smartphones - Rangeapp.org
For additional information about the Summer Food Service Program please contact Mary Ringenberg at mringenber@pa.gov or 717.783.6501.
