• Summer Reading

Dear New Hope-Solebury Middle School Families,

We are asking all New Hope-Solebury Middle School students to read for pleasure throughout the summer, and to keep a record of books read on the Summer Reading Form. Students who complete summer reading can submit this form for each book read as their entry to a prize drawing that will take place upon return from summer vacation. While we want to ultimately promote a life-long love of reading, reading throughout the summer will prevent students from experiencing a decline in overall skills. Research supports that by reading at least 4 books throughout the summer, students prevent regression of skills. So, for every 4 books read, students will get to enter their name for the prize drawing. We are asking families to help support the habit of reading throughout the summer and are encouraging families to read together. Take a trip to your local library! They have wonderful programs going on all summer long. We are including a list of recommended books based on popularity amongst students as well as the Reading Olympics’ book list for the 2019-2020 school year. In addition, we are providing a link to a site that help students select their next read based on their interests. These resources, as well as the summer reading form, can be found using the links located to the left of this letter.

    Sincerely,
