School Announcements
Schools will be closed on Monday, October 9th for Staff-in-service day. Students should not report to school.
Homework Club at the UES: Please see the attached flyer for more information for our homework club. Homework club will be held on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Start of School Checklist: Please reference this helpful Start of School Checklist to assist you with ensuring you have fulfilled all requirements for your child(ren)’s school year. The document includes live links you will need to complete each item on the list.
Note from the Nurse: If your student has a new injury that requires a cast, boot, sling, wrap, crutches, or has a concussion, we do need a note from their physician to return to school. This note should include restrictions for PE, recess and any other school activity and include duration of restrictions. If your student requires a medication at school, please review our medication guidelines here.
Biking In PE: Please see the attached information regarding commonly asked questions
about our biking unit in PE. Also attached is the rules for wearing sneakers in class.
UES Spirit Wear: Please click here for the link to order your UES spirit wear. Orders can be submitted up until Sunday, October 15th.
Reminders
Absences/Tardy: Please send an email to UESattendance@nhsd.org,or a note in to the office if you will be late, leaving early or absent.
Cafeteria Accounts:Please remember to pay off any negative balances on your child(ren)’s cafeteria account prior to the end of the school year. Need to know your child(ren)’s account balance? Please log onto SchoolCafe at www.schoolcafe.com or reach out to Shannon Stone at sstone@nhsd.orgDevice Insurance: Families may opt to purchase an accidental insurance plan for district-issued devices at the cost of $50 for the school year via the Beginning of Year Forms in the Sapphire Community Portal now through September 30.
Support our Home and School Association: We encourage all families to get involved and follow the programs provided by our amazing HSA! SAFETY AND HEALTH REMINDERS
Whenever your child is experiencing symptoms of a communicable illness, please remember that students must be free of fever (without fever reducing medication), vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school. Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe and healthy.

Happenings
Girls Basketball Clinic: Girls in Grades 1-8 are invited to join an afternoon of basketball with the Lions Girls Basketball team and Coach Steve Polinsky on Monday, November 20 from 12:30-3:00PM in the HS Gym. Players will have the opportunity to develop basketball skills while having fun. LES students will be bussed to the UES after school. All LES & UES students will be escorted to the High School gym from the UES.
Girls Tennis Fundraiser: The Girls Tennis team hopes you will visit Owowcow Creamery in Lambertville, NJ on Friday, September 29 from 5-9PM. Enjoy yummy ice cream while supporting our Lions Girls Tennis team.
