Recently, our seventh-grade students visited the Penn Museum in Philadelphia to bring their study of the ancient civilizations of the Americas to life! The field trip provided an engaging opportunity to wrap up their classroom unit while deepening their understanding of the Olmec, Maya, and Aztec civilizations through the museum’s impressive Mesoamerican exhibit.
Students also participated in a hands-on ancient paint workshop, exploring historical artistic techniques and connecting with the creativity of past civilizations. In addition, museum volunteers led small groups on a highlights tour featuring artifacts and exhibits from Roman, Greek, Native American, and Middle Eastern cultures.
A special thank-you to Mr. Jeff Petzak for planning this engaging experience, which allowed students to expand their knowledge of world history, explore the cultural achievements of ancient societies, and make meaningful connections between their classroom learning and the world around them.
