Four of our UES 3rd graders recently participated in a national writing contest run by Young Writers, which helps students turn imagination and creativity into confidence and strong writing skills. For this challenge, they were asked to write a “spooky saga” in 100 words or less—and each student completed their story entirely on their own!
Throughout the process, the students planned, drafted, and revised independently, focusing on strong word choice, clear storytelling, and creativity—all within a tight word limit. We are thrilled to share that all four students were selected as winners. Congratulations to Miles Y., Vincenzo T., Katariina T. and Sophie W. on this major accomplishment!
Their stories will be published in a book, which we can’t wait to add to our classroom bookshelf!
