Dear New Hope-Solebury Community,
We understand that the current government shutdown, pause on SNAP benefits, and the ongoing effects of inflation are creating real challenges for many families in our community. As a district, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting our students, families, and neighbors through these difficult times.
At New Hope-Solebury School District, we are taking thoughtful steps to ensure that both our exceptional educational programs and our caring community remain strong. We continue to be diligent and responsible with our spending, resource use, and partnerships so that our students continue to receive the high-quality education they deserve.
For those who may be struggling, please know that support is available. Every student in our district has access to free breakfast, and families are encouraged to explore the free and reduced-price lunch program. Please note that applications can be submitted at any time during the school year if your circumstances have changed. We are also working closely with local organizations to connect families with essential resources. If you or your student has particular needs, please reach out to your child’s social worker. There are resources available.
We would also encourage you to explore these resources, including food pantries, the Bucks County Opportunity Council, and the Bucks County Resource Directory.
In the spirit of giving and solidarity, each of our schools will be launching initiatives over the next two weeks to support Fisherman’s Mark, the Delaware Valley Food Bank, and local families in need. These efforts will include food drives, fundraising activities, and more, empowering our students, staff, families, and community to make a direct impact close to home. Please keep an eye out for more information on each of these initiatives.
Finally, as a community, it is important that we continue to advocate for government resolution so that much-needed funding can be restored to support those most affected.
Thank you for your continued compassion and unity as we navigate these challenges together. The strength of our Lion community lies in how we support each other—and together, we will continue to rise.
With gratitude,
Dr. Charles Lentz
Superintendent
New Hope-Solebury School District
