This District provides an annual notice of Policy 246: School Wellness, which was formally adopted by the Board of School Directors in April 2017 and revised on October 25, 2018. The District recognizes that student wellness and proper nutrition support our students’ physical well-being, growth, development, and readiness to learn. The Board is committed to providing a school environment that promotes student wellness, proper nutrition, nutrition education and promotion, and/or regular physical activity as part of the total learning experience. In a healthy school environment, students will learn about and participate in positive dietary and lifestyle practices that can improve student achievement. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with Policy 246: School Wellness, especially as it relates to birthday celebrations, rewards/incentives, shared classroom snacks and classroom holiday celebrations.
The District established a Wellness Committee to support our efforts to ensure a healthy school environment for our students. This committee meets regularly to review our wellness policies and to find opportunities to improve our services for students.
For any questions regarding the committee and/or policy, please contact Shannon Stone, Director of Food Service and chairperson of the Wellness Committee at Email Shannon Stone.
