Students running robots

On Saturday, January 11th, New Hope-Solebury High School Robotics Team held their inaugural competition. This year’s game, High Stakes, involves teams working in pairs to grab rings of their team’s color and stacking them on goals and then, finally, to climb a tall ladder in the center of the arena. Twenty six teams from ten separate organizations from all over the region competed in head-to-head matchups and in solo demonstrations of their Driving and Programing Skills. Teams came from as far as Chester Springs and as near as Central Bucks West. In an exciting morning and afternoon of Round Robin competitions New Hope-Solebury’s three separate teams played hard. Each team played 8 different matches over the course of the day, pairing and competing against random teams through out.

At the end of the Qualification Matches, Team A, consisting of Jake Bond, Rogan Restaino, Ben Steifel, Ben Steinberger, Leo Steinberger, Mohneesh Vinukollu, had ranked an outstanding 5th! Team B, consisting of Matias Waschbusch, Ethan Broekema, Colin Foster, Charlie Taggi, Louden Foff Finnegan Zackham, Freshmen Andrew Chukhryaev, Scott Lawson and Team C, consisting of Anthony Neff, Will Tritremmel, Matt Picone, Quinn Spencer, Tripp Spencer, and Alex Tremblay, both performed well, earning a place in the Elimination Bracket. The teams all worked extremely hard, spending hours after school every week to design, build, and test their robot.

New Hope-Solebury’s teams are excited to continue the season, with upcoming competitions at Delaware County Christian and Spring-Ford School District in the next months.
