Ms. Stephanie Washam brings 18 years of educational experience to the District

The New Hope-Solebury School District (NHSD) has announced the appointment of Ms. Stephanie Washam as the incoming principal of the Lower Elementary School.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Washam to the district,” said Dr. Charles Lentz, superintendent of NHSD. “With her robust experience, innovative approach to education, and nurturing demeanor, Ms. Washam will continue the legacy of excellence and foster a strong educational foundation for our youngest learners.”

Her 18 years of educational service began as an early childhood educator. She then specialized in literacy, working as a curriculum supervisor and literacy specialist for the New Jersey Department of Education. The last several years, Ms. Washam has served as an elementary school principal, including her current role as principal at Stony Creek Elementary School in the Wissahickon School District.

“As part of our Profile of a Graduate vision for each of our students, New Hope-Solebury School District empowers all learners to become global citizens in addition to developing key characteristics such as integrity, creativity, curiosity and resilience.  This work begins the moment our students walk through the doors of our Lower Elementary School,” said Ms. Judy Finn, President of the NHSD Board of School Directors. “With her experience as a teacher, specialist, and nearly a decade as an administrator, Ms. Washam brings a wealth of insight to New Hope-Solebury.”

“I’m excited to join a district that is student-centered and committed to supporting the whole child,” said Washam. “I look forward to collaborating with both administration and the Lower Elementary School team of professionals to ensure that each child receives the exceptional educational experience they deserve.”

Ms. Washam holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Educational Leadership from Drexel University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership at Northeastern University.

Ms. Washam will officially assume her new role this July, succeeding Dr. Jennifer Bloom.
