Uniformed Navy representative standing in front of 4 students, greeting at a grand doorway.

Recently, five New Hope-Solebury School District students traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in special events celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.

Three NHSD students spent the summer participating in an internship program through the U.S. Navy Memorial, where they interviewed veterans who served in the Navy and Marine Corps. Their interviews were transformed into videos and featured in a film festival at the Library of Congress, attended by members of Congress and the Secretary of the Navy.

Additionally, students who participated in a STEAM competition held as part of the 250th anniversary celebration were also invited to Washington, D.C., where a video highlighting their competition work was showcased. The students traveled alongside students and veterans from Central Bucks School District for this memorable experience.

The day began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, where one of our own students had the honor of laying the wreath—a meaningful tribute to those who have served our nation.

We are proud of Clara M., Lee Zablud, Reza Ardehali, Teshome Nahom, and Mohneesh Vinukollu for representing New Hope-Solebury at these special events. A special thank-you also goes to Middle School STEAM Teacher Jim Gosser and Superintendent Dr. Charles Lentz for joining the students and supporting these meaningful opportunities to honor veterans, celebrate student learning, and recognize the legacy of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
